  1. After a few recent heated discussions with different players / community members, I would like to remind everyone of the following: DarkRP Monetization Danny and I have already spent over 1,600 hours working on the DarkRP gamemode to provide you with a fun, free game for your enjoyment. I have personally spent at least 10,000 hours playing, administrating and developing the GMODZ server since 2013, and I estimate 1/4 of that time was spent on development alone. Donations are and always will be purely optional. DarkRP Premium membership is $10/month. Sure, that may seem like a hefty amount, but you don't need premium membership to play and enjoy the server. Premium membership does not unlock anything game-changing nor does it make your character better than someone else who has not donated. The reason behind the recurring payment scheme is the same motivation that powers Patreon and other platforms of the like. We have tried the single-time donation scheme for GMODZ and found that many people wanted to donate again, but had nothing to receive from their donations aside from gratitude. This, again, is purely optional and if you want to make a one-time donation, you are more than welcome to do so by purchasing credits or making a direct donation. XP Boosts does not only benefit the person who purchased it, but the entirety of the population online for the duration of the experience boost. This is the only game-affecting feature as a result of donations, as the rest are purely cosmetic. I, however, disagree with the current boost rates (3.5x) and will lower the effectiveness of XP boosts once the level-requirement<->experience-reward ratios are addressed. (e.g gaining more experience for performing a higher level-requirement action) If you feel the gamemode is "pay-to-win", I strongly disagree with you. If you truly think that, please voice yourself publicly. I urge you to go play on any other server (or make your own, and see for yourself!). If you are unhappy, either tell us and tell us why or leave. Don't stick around acting all passive aggressive or just to start drama and waste our time. We have had many people complain or state a "problem" but nobody has been able to state either what they're complaining about or fail to come up with any alternatives or ideas. DarkRP Suggestions We read and appreciate every suggestion we receive and are grateful for every single one of them. However, things take time to implement. We have to plan for the future, how things will interact with existing features and whether it fits the style we're going for. We also appreciate constructive negative feedback. But like I've stated above in the monetization rant, if you're going to raise a problem, you should also raise a potential solution. For example, whining "scrap metal sucks" once is fine. Saying "scrap metal sucks" every time you join the server is annoying. Instead, try to come up with a potential solution and introduce it to the developers as a question such as "What if we were able to steal cars and dismantle them for scrap metal?" This kind of suggestion is probably one of the best. Sometimes, a suggestion will be taken by the developers and expanded upon, sometimes even brought to a completely different direction. Don't be afraid to suggest something because you think we don't listen; we really do unless you're being rude. DarkRP Balancing I like to think of myself as a sane developer. I make games the way I would want to play them. With that being said, I have heard your concerns about the experience rates and how much time needs to be invested into the server before getting to a stable point. These are all things I want to address, but I have been focusing all of my time working on the server's backend & infrastructure that I've let that side slide. The server is heavily inspired by RuneScape, a game that truly molded my childhood and perspective of games so yes, some parts will be grindy. But grind isn't always a bad thing. I don't want to turn people off by the thought of it. Once I'm done working on all of the things that you guys don't really get to see, I will focus on making the game fun. In other news, I currently do not have any stable source of income aside from the Amazon Flex program and some game development freelancing and I'm struggling to make ends meet. For that reason, I have slowed down DarkRP development to focus on obtaining an AWS certification to become a full-time software developer. Thank you for listening to me rant.
  2. I'm neutral on this due to the skid history
  3. Your staff status overrides the veteran rank. Furthermore, veteran status is automatically given to retired staff as long as we're on good terms
  4. I like where this is going. I think with the addition of business entities Dan has planned, we would make you have to launder the money through that
  5. Hello everyone, The DarkRP server sees a long awaited update tonight. I have spent the better part of this last week tweaking the vehicles and fighting with the physics engine used by Source, so most of my changes revolve around that. With the vehicle changes almost complete, you will see one more big time consuming and non-content related update from me; the crash recovery system. Once that's out of the way, I can move on to polishing existing features. Xavier's Changes: Complete overhaul/rebalance of every single vehicle. Fixed traction upgrades (Braking upgrades currently broken as a result. This will be addressed later.) Fixed curing weed making inventory unusable Fixed "Tasks are locked" message Fixed "You can't afford that" happening in credit store Added Police Lieutenant rank Added delay to equipping weapons and clothes along with an automated /me message Added Chevrolet Suburban (Sergeant) and Crown Victoria (Lieutenant) police vehicles (Reskins coming soon) Optimized poor-performing thirdparty addons Fixed some exploitable code The server is now on visible on the server list! 8. Russki: Combating rule breakers is not a valid reason for you to break the rules. You should have reported any wrongdoing to the staff team instead. As seen by the evidence posted, you have broken DarkRP rules #1, #4 and #5 and your RP name "NIG Ward" borderline breaks Community rule #4 as well as DarkRP Rule #3 As a community member, your role is to be a role model to new players. This behavior was quite the opposite of that. Considering the following, , you will only receive a 2-day ban (same length as the original ban) as well as a forced RP name change: We are currently still in beta The rules are not fully clearly defined I understand that not all of the existing community members have experience with DarkRP You have stayed put after the original incident Please reply to this topic with your new desired RP name.

  12. COMMUNITY RULES These rules apply to the forums, all of our game servers and general member interaction. 1. Don't be an idiot. Use common sense. Don't start pointless fights or big dick contests No NSFW/NSFL content outside of the discord NSFW channel. AKA No NSFW/NSFL in game servers either. 2. Be drama-free. Drama of any kind will not be tolerated. We will also punish those who fuel the fire rather than staying out of it. Do not harass other players or community members. Deliberate passive aggressiveness will not be tolerated either. 3. Absolutely no gossip related to other communities. We do realize we are in a competitive market. However, this is no reason to act childish. Be respectful of other communities and the work that has been put into them. If a serious matter needs to be addressed, please send a private message directly to a council member and refrain from discussing it publicly. 4. Usage of slurs of any kind is not tolerated It's 2019, people have become real entitled pussies. Everyone gets offended easily and no one knows why. If you're 14, just discovered 4chan and your sole intent is to offend people, find some time to mature up elsewhere. Do not purposefully attempt to detour the automated chat censorship. 5. Report any bugs to the developers Abusing bugs rather than reporting them will lead to a permanent ban. DARKRP SERVER RULES General Rules: 1. Treat other players with respect. Toxic behavior will not be tolerated. You may not harass other players. 2. Cheating in any form is not allowed. This includes abusing any bug that is found which allows for an unfair advantage. 3. You may not scam other players. However, flipping and trading items is acceptable. Roleplay Rules: 1. Handle a roleplaying situation similar to how you would in real life. 2. Any conversation that could occur during roleplay should take place in-game and not in third party voice communication applications (AKA No metagaming). This includes using OOC for RP purposes. 3. Roleplay Names must be realistic. Names of public figures are not allowed. 4. You may not purposely disconnect to avoid a roleplaying situation. (E.g being arrested, mugged, raided, etc) 5. You may not perform any action that could potentially prevent other players from roleplaying correctly. 6. Respect NLR. You may not return to the same roleplaying scenario after death. You must also forget what happened in your previous life. The time for NLR is 5 minutes after you respawn. 7. If a player points a firearm at you or visually threatens your life in any way you must follow FearRP. FearRP indicates you must follow their commands and roleplay as if your life is at risk. This can be combated if you have an immediate way to defend yourself. 8. You are required to perform your job’s duty. Paramedics must attempt to save all players regardless of who they are. Police must arrest any player found doing something illegal. Firefighters must attempt to put out every fire. Any non-citizen job (Police, Firefighter, Paramedic) may not be associated in promoting illegal activities in any way. You must report any illegal activities to the correct authorities Player vs Player: 1. You may not commit acts of terrorism. Using a vehicle to kill bystanders. Shooting multiple random people not in self defense ( RDM ). This rule is left up to interpretation to the administrators based on the current situation / context 2. You may not successfully mug the same player twice in a day. You have to use the in-game mugging system built into the player interaction system. If you can't mug with the interaction menu, then you can't mug that player. ( This is for logging purposes and to ensure new players are not mugged. ) Additionally you may only mug players for money. A successful mug is when you have the player drop the specified amount of money in chat. If you are a accomplice to the mugging, you may not mug that player again that same day as well. If you mug without using the interaction system this will be considered Fail RP and the player does not have to follow any commands. 3. You may not kill players without any roleplaying intent. Repeatedly killing the same player multiple times may be considered harassment. 4. You may only raid the same player(s) once per hour. You may only take physical items during a raid. 5. When encountered by the police for a suspected crime, you must act as if it were real life. If the police member asks you to exit the vehicle while you are not moving, you must comply unless you are able to immediately contest the police with a weapon. Failure to do so will result in the evasion of FearRP. Job Rules: Police: You must arrest any player performing anything illegal. You may not perform nor be associated with illegal actions when roleplaying as a job under the police category. Things that are illegal: Shooting a gun in a public area. Wearing a Mask in a public area. Holding and pointing a firearm at other players. Stealing from other players. Threatening another player’s life. Robbing the bank Pickpocketing Damaging Public or Private Property. Making/Distributing or using Drugs. Fire Fighter: You may not perform nor be associated with any illegal actions when roleplaying as a job under the firefighter category. You must try your very best to put out every fire. Paramedic: You may not perform nor be associated with any illegal actions when roleplaying as a job under the paramedic category You must try your very best to revive every player until labeled dead. You must wait until a raid is finished before attempting to revive any knocked-out players. Raiding Rules: You are not required to announce a raid before raiding. If you die, you may not return to a raid that is in progress until it is finished. Raids are "finished" when the raiders are killed or leave the property. You may not intentionally delay a raid and prevent players from returning by staying inside of the building longer than you need to. You are not allowed to utilize any world props to bypass doors or hop over fences. You are not allowed to boost over fences using other players.

  15. This guy gets a fat +1 from me
  16. Following our recent meetings, a new set of global rules as well as member, veteran and staff guidelines has been put into action. COMMUNITY RULES - These apply everywhere. All game servers, Discord and any other CSI-related activities. MEMBER, VETERAN and STAFF GUIDELINES We have also updated the DayZ server rules as well as Forum rules to reflect these new changes: While all of the above topics are locked to keep them looking clean, I will be accepting any sort of feedback on this news post. This includes comments, suggestions or any questions.
  17. Community Member Guidelines The CSI Community members are expected to be upstanding members of the community and are held to a higher standard. 1. Respect, follow and enforce the rules. Community members are allowed and encouraged to speak up when faced with other members or players that may be misbehaving. If any situation cannot be solved through communication, community members should escalate the situation to the proper staff team. Do not be complicit in other players or community members’ wrongdoings. Report any misconduct to staff members. 2. Proudly wearing the CSi. tag / name prefix on Steam is a requirement Please note that when you are wearing the tag, you are representing the community as a whole. Switching between different community tags is allowed but will raise questions about your dedication to CSI. 3. Abide by the general community rules not only on our servers, but everywhere else Your actions in or outside of our servers can and will be misinterpreted as the views of CSI as a whole and not just you as a person. Gross misconduct while wearing the CSi. tag will result in your tag getting revoked. 4. Be open minded and welcoming to new players The main goal of the CSI membership program is to provide new players with a friendly and welcoming environment. 5. Do not create or engage in organized sub-communities or cliques Prefer the official channels over creating your own. If a niche channel or category is missing, contact council members to try and arrange something. This means creating your own discord server or group with the goal of orchestrating your own hierarchy OR group of friends within the CSI community is not allowed. (I'm looking at you, "The Elite of CSI".) This creates segregation and robs us from the community feeling that this whole thing is about. Veteran Community Member Guidelines A veteran member is a respected member of the community. They have proven their dedication and respect for the community. There are currently no set in stone requirements for obtention. This title will be handed out on a case-by-case basis. Veteran members are held to the same standard as regular community members, with these additional restrictions: 1. The CSi. tag is mandatory at all times Switching between different community tags is not permitted at all Staff Guidelines The CSI staff should represent the pinnacle of professionalism. Staff members are held to the same requirements as veteran members, with the following additions: 1. Staff may not bat a blind eye to rule breakers Friends, acquaintances, community members, etc do not get any free passes 2. Staff members must do everything in their best effort to enforce the rules as swiftly as possible. 3. Staff members are expected to play as regular players until something goes wrong. What we’ve noticed over the years is that once a member becomes part of staff, they lose interest in playing the game normally. This is very detrimental and creates fragmentation within the community. Staff members should always focus on enjoying the game they love at the core before anything else. However, they may dedicate time solely to moderation and new player orientation, if they desire. 4. Proper punishment escalation should be followed in relation to the offense at hand Cheaters or bug abusers deserve an instant permanent ban Use the “least amount of force required” approach when dealing with a situation. (e.g Mute, Kick, Temporary ban) When possible, try to use one of the following ban lengths: 1 hour, 6 hours (360 minutes), 24 hours (1440 minutes) Bans longer than 3 days require a notification to council members along with an explanation of the situation Bans longer than one week require council member consultation / approval Game Integrity Disclaimer We believe in a true and fair playing experience for everyone. We take a minimalistic approach to staff members’ access to in-game tools. This means staff members have absolutely NO access to things that could help them gain an unfair advantage, with the only exception being developers under strict conditions that do not affect their characters. Developers will NOT misuse these powers and are also expected to play as regular players. This means administrators CANNOT: spawn any items including but not limited to [items, money, vehicles, skins, credits, donation perks, etc] Administrators have access to the following tools: noclip, invisibility, teleportation, kick, mute, ban, administrator chat. If you notice any misuse of administrator tools, please gather evidence and submit a report to the members of the Council. Reports will be handled smoothly with utmost discretion.

    Unbann request

I'll be lifting this before I forget about it Looks like Josh already unbanned you
  20. Xavier

    Unbann request

Due to the nature of the way spectating is handled on top of the 33 tick servers, I don't see this particular piece of evidence compelling enough to warrant a ban. I'll go ahead and lift this ban unless there is more evidence posted. @Josh
  21. But I used to love ravaging on my alt with a glock / m1911, I feel insulted Where's the airdrop-specific ones? Nvm Can't read
  22. I will go ahead and lift this ban due to lack of concrete evidence, but your account will remain flagged for manual review.
  23. Danny and I have been wanting to do this forever! When we get time 😄
  24. I can confirm without a doubt that your textures did not look like that at the time the ban occurred. This screenshot was taken moments before you were banned:
