Hello everyone! With regards to the recent incident about the servers being down, they were unfortunately hit by the whole "ransomware" thing that's going around right now. Xavier is working hard to get things back up and running with that but in the meantime he called together the staff and some of the old-time veterans of the community to come up with a plan with regards to what to do next and what we want the next steps of the community to be. We have some ideas but I wanted to take the time to tell you guys about something that I fervently suggested and have been talking about for a long time with the staff.

My goal with this endeavor is to bring the community closer together and to facilitate more interaction between myself and all of you, while at the same time trying to grow and expand the community. I believe the game I created our guild in has the potential to fulfill all of these objectives provided that enough of you make the commitment to step up and participate. So, without further ado let me introduce to you the latest addition to CSI: our official PlanetSide 2 outfit!

New stuff! Cool stuff! Let's get right into the changes version 2.70.23 brings us:

Added:

• Air Drops! (dz_chernarus only for now)These happen every 2 and a half hours. For each chunk of 5 players, the timer decreases by 13 minutes for a minimum of 1 hour between each drop above 45 players
• Shop! You can now buy and sell items to the attachment trader in safe zone. The prices depend on the shop's current stock and the amount of players currently online. Note: The F2 store in which you may buy perks and stamps is still available through the same menu.
• Blood Splats! The red screen that used to appear when taking damage has been replaced by a new blood splat system. Where the blood appears on the edge of your screen indicates the position of the damage inflictor relative to yours.
• Up to 200 zombies See other changes below
• Proper weapon sound spatialization Gunshots sounds are now properly positioned instead of sounding like they're coming from all sides at once.
• Rare weapons: Items highlighted in bold are only available through air drops

Changed:

• Crouching is now limited to one per jump
• Flashlight will now work for people using XFPS or other FPS-enhancement configurations
• Helicopter sounds will no longer randomly stop playing
• M24 now deals 72 damage (Effectively replaced by the M82, allowing us to have more weapons that use this ammo type that would otherwise have been considered weak)
• 7.62x51MM ammo is now more common
• Fists may now damage vehicles
• New error message when attempting to send mail to a server in which your inbox is currently full
• Fall damage is now more like Counter-Strike: Source
• Fixed easily abusable spots in hospital and south of the map
• Memier death messages
• Fixed being able to purchase permanent attachments twice
• Fixed forcing a safezone respawn
• Heavily optimized zombie AI (More work to be done, but for now we can have up to 300 zombies on the map without lag. Currently capped at 200 - players * 2)
• Flashlights start with 15 battery upon being picked up
• Fixed flashlight HUD entry's numeric display being backwards
• New loot system for a better spawning rate certainty. This also allows for extremely rare items that have the chance to spawn once every few months. Stay tuned
• Prevented an exploit with the old store system
• Rounding errors in Scroll of Safety display time "You must wait another 0 seconds" has been fixed
• Tweaked weapon recoil so that bullets go above your crosshair when spraying instead of staying below.
• Disallowed the use of chat "say" binds to reduce useless immature spam
• You will now automatically pick up...

Small bug fix update today. Not many changes, but here they are:

• Helicopter will no longer get stuck at the pool area
• Moved all resources to use the Steam Workshop for faster downloads
• Removed unused played models
• Server will now attempt to restart automatically at 5 AM EST

Yep, that's right! Here's what you need to know:

There are currently no benefits for being a veteran member other than cool looks on the forums and TeamSpeak. Some small server-bound features are currently being brainstormed.

In order to apply for veteran membership, you must either be a respected retired staff member or meet all of the following requirements:

1. Your forum account must at least be one year old OR you must be able to prove the date at which you started actively playing
2. You must have been a community member for at least six consecutive months
   • OR be a very well respected returning member
3. If you made a departure and recently came back, you must first be a community member for two months prior to applying for veteran membership status
4. You must be respected by (and be respectful to) other community members. Any major altercation(s) that may have happened in the past three months prior to your application for veteran membership status will impede your application.
